Cost-Effective Method

“Lift down top half” versus “window section resection”

As specialists in tower and vessel retrofitting, we’ve taken the knowledge we’ve learned over the years to and developed a truly innovative way of approaching column/vessel work called the “window section resection” approach.

Since refineries are typically prohibitive in terms of space within which to work, it’s oftentimes difficult to set up a crane and remove the top section of the column or tower in question—a common method known as the “lift down top half” approach

The “window section resection” approach is a cost saving alternative that utilizes skillful engineering and highly calculated preplanning to perform repairs on columns without having to sever and remove the column entirely.

By installing stiffeners on a vessel according to data rendered by the finite element analysis, each vessel can maintain its shape during the window installation.
